Stainless Steel 310 — UNS S31000 | 1.4841 | SUS 310
Stainless Steel 310 is an austenitic stainless steel specially designed for industrial applications requiring high-temperature resistance and outstanding corrosion resistance. With 25% chromium and 20% nickel content, SS 310 is not only resistant to oxidation at temperatures up to 1100°C (2100°F) but also performs excellently under cyclic thermal conditions. It delivers superior creep rupture strength, good ductility, and excellent weldability. SS 310 Sheets and Plates are widely used in furnace parts, heat treatment equipment, chemical process vessels, and power generation applications.
Stainless Steel 310S — UNS S31008 | 1.4845 | SUS 310S
Stainless Steel 310S is the low-carbon variant of SS 310, with carbon content controlled to 0.08% maximum. This modification makes 310S less prone to sensitization and embrittlement at elevated service temperatures, making it the preferred choice for welded fabrications exposed to high-temperature environments. UNS S31008 retains all the key properties of 310 — including high chromium (25%) and nickel (20%) content — while offering greater resistance to intergranular corrosion and improved long-term high-temperature stability.

High-Temperature Oxidation Resistance
Resistant to oxidation up to 1100°C (2100°F). Performs excellently at cyclic temperature conditions, making it ideal for furnace and heat treatment applications.
Superior Corrosion Resistance
25% Cr + 20% Ni composition provides outstanding resistance to sulfidation, hot corrosion, pitting, and crevice corrosion even in aggressive environments.
Excellent Weldability & Ductility
Both SS 310 and 310S are weldable by all standard fusion and fabrication methods. SS 310S with its low carbon content minimizes sensitization risk in welded joints.

Stainless Steel 310 (UNS S31000) has a higher carbon content (max 0.25%) compared to Stainless Steel 310S (UNS S31008, max 0.08% carbon). The lower carbon in 310S reduces the risk of sensitization and intergranular corrosion in welded applications, making 310S more suitable for fabrication involving welding at elevated temperatures.
SS 310 and 310S offer excellent oxidation resistance up to 1100°C (2100°F) in continuous service and up to 1050°C (1920°F) in intermittent service. They maintain good mechanical properties and structural integrity at elevated temperatures, making them the preferred choice for furnace components, radiant tubes, and heat treatment baskets.
